Vaping on Holiday

Summer is here and many of us will be looking to make the most of the weather with holidays and trips to the beach.  Dead batteries and sand in your device can really spoil your fun, but this guide will help you make the most of your time in the sun and avoid the temptation of going back to smoking.

What kind of device is best for vaping at the beach?

If you’re going to be spending all day on the sand, it’s worth having a think about what device you’ll be using.  There is nothing worse than dead batteries, so consider a device with a long-lasting battery that will keep you going all day, or a device that accepts external batteries so you can carry some spares

Disposable vapes are incredibly popular right now and a huge reason for this is simply convenience.  While not the cheapest or most environmentally conscious choice, they are great for times when you want to travel light.

Rugged, dust and water resistant devices are ideal for the more adventures (or less careful!) of us, and products like the Geekvape Aegis and Voopoo Argus GTII even have IP ratings to show exactly how dustproof and waterproof they are.

Accessories

If your device takes external batteries then carrying some replacements with you means you can easily swap them and keep vaping until you get chance to charge them later.  Alternatively, devices with internal batteries can be conveniently charged from a USB power bank.

If you’re the sort of person who likes to spend all day out and on-the-go while on holiday, you might want to consider using larger e-liquid bottles to reduce how much you need to carry.

Don’t forget to take replacement coils too!

Rules for flying

Remember that when flying from the UK, liquids (including e-liquid) are limited to a maximum bottle size of 100ml, and all liquid in your carry-on luggage must be able to fit into a single, transparent, resealable plastic bag which holds no more than 1 litre and measures 20cm x 20cm.

E-cigarette devices MUST be in your carry-on luggage and are not permitted in bags placed in the hold.

Spare lithium battery cells such as the Molicel 18650 are only allowed to be taken in carry-on luggage and are limited to a maximum of 2.  These cells must also be individually protected to prevent short circuits.  You can carry batteries as long as they are installed in your device.

Remember to charge your devices and batteries before you travel – if your device does not switch on when requested at the airport, you will not be allowed to take it onto the aircraft.

Tips

Check the local rules before you go.  While vaping on the beach and in public is generally allowed in the UK, some local councils have opted to ban smoking and vaping from their beaches entirely, while abroad the rules may be completely different.

Keep your device and batteries clean and secure, avoid leaving it in direct sunlight where it could become too hot and as much as possible, keep your device (especially the tank) off the sand.

Store e-liquid in a cool place where possible and avoid too much heat or direct sunlight which can cause a change in flavour.
