Disposable vs. Refillable

Way back when e-cigarettes first began to take off in the UK, disposables were a popular alternative to the complicated and often clumsy refillable devices of the time.  As technology improved disposables largely fell out of favour but in recent years there has been a massive resurgence in their popularity, and it looks like they are here to stay.  So what happened?

Disposable vapes still satisfy a need for convenience and the desire for ease of use – very few refillable devices can come close in terms of outright simplicity, and as refillable vape technology has improved so too have disposables, with many now offering the kind of performance that even full-featured kits struggled to provide just a few years ago.

Environmental impact

As an environmentally conscious society, it has never been more important that we consider the impact of waste and clearly, disposable vape devices come at a cost to the environment.  A good quality refillable kit will last a long time if well maintained, representing a huge reduction in the amount of waste created when compared to disposables.
 

Flavour

While recent disposables have seen a huge improvement in both flavour quality and selection, new e-liquid lines are available that compete easily with the best of them, offering even more choice of flavours, several nicotine strengths and more pocket friendly to boot.  Salt nicotine (which most disposable vapes use) is now more commonly found as an option, allowing even high strengths to provide smooth, rich flavour without any harshness.
 

Performance

Again, disposables have really improved in this area too, but they will never match the performance of a modern refillable device.  Features such as adjustable power and airflow allow you to tailor the settings exactly to your preference, while the enhanced battery life often means a single device will keep you going for a whole day, or even a few days for a light user.

Summary

So is there a solid case for disposables?  In terms of outright convenience, nothing can really beat disposables, however refillable kits can come extremely close and in every other way – price, environmental impact, flavour and performance – a refillable kit is definitely the better choice!
